Frequently Asked Questions

Chiropractic

  • No.  A patient does not need a referral.  Chiropractors are legislated as primary contact health care professionals in every province in Canada.  This means that patients can consult them directly.

  • Chiropractors are required to complete a minimum three-year university program before applying for the competitive Doctor of Chiropractic program. Chiropractic school is a minimum 4 year program depending on the accredited school.

  • Chiropractic care is covered extensively by third-party payers. These include the federal public service, worker’s compensation boards, the automobile insurance industry, private health care insurers, employee benefit plans, the RCMP, and Veterans Affairs Canada.

  • X-rays can play an important role in diagnosis. They are only taken when a need has been determined after completing a patient’s case history and conducting a physical examination. Due to their training and competence, chiropractors have been granted the right to take and interpret X-rays.

  • Chiropractic is a form of manual therapy that is firmly grounded in science. The chiropractors at Kinetic Chiropractic and Health Clinic provide evidence-informed conservative care. Spinal manipulative therapy (adjustment) provided by doctors of chiropractic has been researched extensively both in Canada and internationally. Chiropractors offer a safe, non-invasive approach to joint and muscle problems.
